Look, two posts in a row and (somewhat) on time! I hit 29 weeks on Friday of last week and I can tell we are getting closer and closer. I’m still trying to kick this head cold, the good thing is the congestion is gone the bad thing is I still have a cough and a hard time breathing. I think that is mostly because baby is shoved up into my lungs these days.
Sleep: I’ve been feeling so tired. That 3rd trimester tiredness has returned and I have a hard time not taking a nap during my lunch break. I need to get back to the gym starting today and I’m hoping that will help. Last night however, I was ready for bed at 7:45, no lie. I couldn’t go to bed that early so Brian and I watched a little Shark Week DVR and then I went to bed at 9:15 instead. Ha!
Food cravings: Honeycrisp apples with extra crunchy peanut butter and mini chocolate chips.
Movement: Still quite a bit of movement, especially at nighttime when I am laying on the couch. I was in L&D over the weekend being monitored (more on that later) and the nurse came back in a few times to readjust the heart rate monitor on baby because as she put it, “This one sure is a mover and a shaker, huh?”
Gender: Team Green. Randomly two separate people at the grocery store told me I was having a girl. The first being an older gentleman at the deli counter ordering swiss cheese and salami for his wife. He turned to me and said, “You’ve got a little girl in there don’t you?” I told him we weren’t sure and he said, “You do.” I’m glad he is so confident!! The second was the cashier at the grocery store. She told me how I was all belly and carrying very high so it has to be a girl. It is so funny how people have theories and guesses on random people’s pregnancies. Looking at the comparison below, the pic on the left is 29 weeks with Makenzie. This is about the time my swelling started along with higher BP. Looking at this pic, you can see the swelling starting in my face.
Blood Pressure: My normal is in the 95/60ish range but when I got home from dress shopping and a 1hr and 45 min boring drive home I took my BP and it was 130/105. Ugh. I took it again a few minutes later and it was still elevated. I took the advice of my Mother in Law who is a nurse and layed down with my feet up and re-took it. It was better, 135/86, but still high. So I called the on call OB and asked her what they wanted me to do. Since I have a history of pre-e and HELLP, she wanted me to come in. They monitored baby and me for close to 3 hours and finally, the last hour it started coming down. My initial labs looked good but now they at least have a baseline to go off of should I have to go in again. Yesterday morning it was back to normal, 96/66, but it started creeping up during the day and today it is creeping up. It’s within normal range but it’s high for my normal if that makes sense. Last reading I got this afternoon was 134/80.
Symptoms: Braxton hicks every day, multiple times a day, which is normal. Last week I had a few regular contractions later on in the evening. They did not “hurt” but they felt different then the normal BH that I’ve been getting. I’ve never gotten more than 2 in a row of those so I think all is probably fine.
Other: The high BP sort of lit a fire under my butt this weekend. On Sunday I decided to finally sort and organize the nursery. Makenzie helped me hang up all the baby boy clothes sized NB and 0-3 months. I also put away all the sleepers and blankets my sister is letting me borrow and it actually looks like a nursery now. The blinds are ordered and I jumped on Restoration Hardware Baby today and bought some super cute curtains that I found on sale and should be delivered sometime next week, which is also the same time the blinds should arrive. Slowly but surely it’s coming together. And I am happy to report that the pee episodes are not as frequent this week. My cough is still there but apparently not as forceful as it has been.
