“TWO!!!” She exclaims and holds 2 sometimes 3 fingers up. This is the response I get from Makenzie when I ask her how old she is. I can’t believe she is 2 years old and furthermore I can’t believe how much she has changed in the past year! I often look back at pictures from this time last year and how little she looks. Bald headed and so tiny.
At 2 years old, Makenzie weighs in at 25lbs 11oz and is 35 inches tall. On her 2nd birthday she was exactly 20lbs heavier than she was at birth. She is still wearing 18-24 months pants/shorts and thanks to her little buddha belly, we find that 2T tops fit the best for her. 🙂
She has 16 teeth and we are awaiting her 2 year molars. Can we talk about the teething necklace and how every baby should have one?! Works wonders. Her big blue eyes that she had at 6 months have changed to a hazel color, I’m actually quite shocked at the changed considering how blue they were at 6 months:
Favorite Activities: Playing outside, bubbles, taking care of her babies, pointing out school buses, swinging, going for walks, playing at the park, swimming (lake or pool, she doesn’t care), singing and dancing, puzzles, being tickled, being chased, wagon rides, watering the flowers, helping mom bake by stirring the bowl or holding the hand mixer (with mommy’s help). Singing! She loves Ba Ba Black Sheep, Row Row Row Your Boat, Wheels on the Bus.
Favorite Yummies: Mashed potatoes, “ana’s” (bananas), Gerber Strawberry/Banana Cereal bars, corn on the cob, homemade mac n cheese, bread (garlic bread, crescent rolls, pillsbury biscuits, you name it she loves it), chicken nuggets, water (she’s been on a milk strike for quite some time), strawberry yogurt, popsicles, “nummies” (Flintstone Toddler gummy vitamins), spaghetti, tator tot casserole, oranges, pancakes, french toast, and scrambled eggs with cheese.
Favorite Shows: “It’s the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, come inside its fun inside…” and wait for it, Toy Story 2 & Toy Story 3.
I had the sign below made for Makenzie’s birthday party and we tried taking weight and height measurements on our own, we were a bit off:
Makenzie’s 2nd birthday party was Sparkle themed and I got the idea from Pinterest of course but then also from her big girl room. I had fun with it! She had the cutest pink sequin shorts and a pale pink shirt with gold sparkle writing that said, “Sparkle Babe”. You can find these shorts at Sugar Plum Lane Boutique and the shirt from Lola and Darla.
Unfortunately, the day before her big 2nd birthday her and I were outside playing right before bed time and she went to bend down and grab a bouncy ball when she lost her footing and scrapped her face, mostly nose, on the concrete driveway. I felt terrible for her and she was more upset that she had to stop playing outside so we could go inside to wash the blood off of her face and lip. Today, her nose is all healed up and almost like it never happened. Like a friend had commented on my Facebook page, that will be the first of many cuts, bruises, scrapes, and owies but it sure hurt my heart to see her so sad.
Last that night I decided to decorate her door with balloons so she felt extra special when she woke up that next morning. At first she wasn’t entirely sure what to think but after a couple minutes, she loved it.
My good friend Anessa is a graphic designer and made this sign below that I used for Makenzie’s birthday party and right now it is hanging in her room. I outlined the word “SPARKLE” in gold glitter and added a little sparkly to some of the gold dots. I love it and got a lot of compliments on it so as always, amazing job Anessa. 🙂
She had a great day with her family and friends and she loved the bouncy house Brian and I got her for the day. We were so grateful and happy for all the family that came down from Wisconsin and celebrated the day with us. It meant a lot to have each and every one of you come down.
Here are a few more pictures from the day. The crowns I actually made with toilet paper rolls and then covered in glitter. I forgot about them throughout the busy day but we did manage to get a few pictures of Makenzie with her two cousins wearing the crowns.
